Frequently Asked Questions
You might be wondering…
Honest answers to the questions people most often have before starting therapy. If yours isn't here, just reach out.
Getting Started
If you're wondering whether therapy might help, that's usually a sign it's worth trying. You don't need to be in crisis, have a diagnosis, or have a specific problem to benefit from therapy. Many people find it helpful simply as a space to think more clearly.
The first session is a conversation, not an intake form. We'll talk about what's brought you here, what you're hoping for, and a bit about how I work. It's also a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable with me. There's no agenda to rush through.
No referral is needed. You can book a free 15-minute consultation directly through the booking link on this site, and we'll go from there.
A free 15-minute phone or video call to briefly introduce ourselves, for you to ask any questions, and to see if working together feels like a good fit. It's low-pressure and there's no obligation to continue.
About Sessions
Standard individual sessions are 60 minutes. The first session may run slightly longer as we get oriented.
Most clients start with weekly sessions, which tends to build the most momentum. As things stabilize, we can move to biweekly or monthly. We'll figure out what works for you.
I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, person-centered, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based practice. I hold these frameworks lightly — what matters most is what actually helps you, not adhering to a single model.
Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling when possible. The full cancellation policy will be shared in your intake paperwork.
Insurance & Payment
Kozi Korner is currently a private-pay (self-pay) practice. We do not bill insurance directly.
Sessions are $99 per session, private pay. Your rate will also be confirmed in your Good Faith Estimate before we begin. I'm committed to transparency about costs.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a written estimate of expected costs before beginning services. I'll provide one before our first session. You can read more on the Good Faith Estimate page.
Payment is processed securely through SimplePractice. Major credit and debit cards are accepted. Payment is due at the time of service.
Telehealth
Sessions take place over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform through SimplePractice. Before each appointment, you'll receive a link. All you need is a private space and a reliable internet connection — a phone, tablet, or computer all work.
I am licensed in Georgia and can only provide therapy to clients who are located in Georgia at the time of each session. If you're temporarily out of state, please let me know in advance.
It happens. We'll reconnect as quickly as possible. If the connection issue is significant, we can switch to a phone call or reschedule the remainder of the session.
Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for most concerns. Many clients actually find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own space.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Yes. Everything shared in therapy is confidential with a few legally required exceptions: if there is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child or elder abuse, or a court order. I'll explain these limits fully in your informed consent paperwork.
This website is not a crisis resource. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
All clinical records and communications are managed through SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant platform. This website does not collect or store any health information.
Brief administrative questions (scheduling, billing) can be sent through the SimplePractice client portal. For clinical concerns between sessions, please use the portal as well. This website's contact form is not for clinical communication.
